AROMATHERAPY

 

Aromatherapy combines the use of a relaxing massage with a blend of carrier oil and essential oils to encourage healing and maintain vitality. Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts; they can be absorbed by the skin and distributed around the body via the circulatory system. Absorbing the oils by breathing in their vapours is also beneficial, and more directly relaxing and soothing.

Essential oils have numerous benefits, affecting our physical, emotional and psychological make-up. Potential benefits include the relief of stress and tension, deep relaxation,a stimulated immune system, a calm and soothed mind, improved blood and lymph circulation, increased energy levels, and a general sense of well-being.

Following the consultation process, a blend of essential oils will be prepared, taking into account client preferences. Certain medical conditions would rule out the use of certain oils. The choice of oils may be made by dowsing, if the client wishes, to ensure the blend of most overall benefit to the client.

To gain maximum benefit from the essential oils, and to give them time to be absorbed into your skin, don’t bath or shower for 8 hours afterwards, and avoid bath oils and salts for 24 hours. And don’t wear your Sunday best! – the oils may stain them. Drink plenty of water following a session to assist in the removal of toxins.
