THERMAL AURICULAR THERAPY (HOPI EAR CANDLES)

This treatment has historical roots in the peoples of the Siberian prairies, Asia and the native North and South American Indians. Hopi Ear Candles are based on the treatment employed by the Hopi Indians, the oldest Pueblo people of North America.

The candles are made from organic bleached linen and pure beeswax, and contain a range of herbs including sage, St. John’s wort and camomile, together with pure essential oils.

As a candle burns, it produces a light suction action (chimney effect) and the movement of the flame creates a vibration of air within the candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum. This induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses. It is soothing and helpful for earache and headache, ear noises, stress and nervousness. The treatment may spontaneously cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell, draining sinuses, or improved hearing.
 

Thermal Auricular Therapy is efficacious in many conditions, including: headache, migraine, sinusitis, rhinitis, tinnitus, snoring, excess earwax, lymphatic congestion, ‘flu, equilibrium, balance swollen glands, hearing difficulties and allergic symptoms. It improves blood circulation to the head and neck, improves lymphatic drainage and toxin elimination, and can improve alertness and awareness.

Each candle takes around 12 minutes to burn down (one at a time, with the client lying on their side); the treatment is normally completed with a facial massage.

Hopi Ear Candles are a class IIa medical product according to medical device directive 93/42/EEC.
